Xiaomi’s Uses Pixel Size Reduction to Implement UDC
Xiaomi in its 3rd generation UDC concept phone (not commercially available), changes the camera segment pixel arrangement and rather than removing 75% of the pixels in the camera area, which tends to make the segment more visible (blacker), they reduced the size of all pixels in the area to allow the camera to receive more light and must compensate for the excess light produced by the pixels using compensation software.
