Visionox Supplies USC for AXON 20 5G
ZTE officially released the world's first under-screen camera phone AXON 20 5G, with a Visionox OLED display. According to the 21st Century Business Herald, Visionox’s Huawei orders this year may amount to about 2.5 billion yuan. Visionox is also going to become the supplier of Huawei’s next-generation folding screen phones. Samsung is supplying Huawei's new generation Mate X2. However, sources close to Huawei's suppliers pointed out that with the heating up of domestic substitution demand in semiconductors and other fields, the localization of suppliers of new panels and other spare parts could be affecting the choice of supplier. "The first two generations of the Huawei Mate X used Samsung’s foldable displays. Although the relationship with Samsung has not been affected by trade frictions or sanctions, the gradual localization of suppliers is anticipated." From: GizmoChina
The report that Huawei is switching from Samsung’s to Visionox’s foldable display is likely to be wishful thinking on the part of Chinese media. While there is, no doubt, a desire in China to use domestic production, the foldable display is a very complex device, which has yet to be mastered by any of the Chinese OLED panel makers. Unless Huawei is forced to make such a decision, it would be prudent to stay with proven supplier having been burned in the past on the false optimism of Chinese panel makers.
