Tianma Signs Framework Agreement to Build Gen 6 in Xiamen

In August, Tianma had set up a new company to develop and license new display technologies but had decided to also sign a framework agreement with the government of Xiamen to develop a new Gen 6 flexible OLED fab in the region. The project, which will cost $6.8b US, will be 15% owned by Tianma and 85% owned by the Xiamen government and will likely be completed (mass production phase 1) in 2022 and extended (phase 2) in 2023. The addition of this fab will make a substantial change in Tianma’s small panel OLED capacity, more than doubling the current capacity by the end of 2024
