TCL Looks to CSoT for Increase 65” LCD TV panel Production
November 25, 2019
TCL sources almost 70% of its panels from ChinaStar, in which it has a 55% stake, along with the Shenzhen government, and a 10% share from Samsung and while TCL has been making structural changes internally that make comparisons a bit difficult, ChinaStar is an important factor in TCL’s TV business. ChinaStar’s LCD fab line-up includes Gen 6, Gen 8.5, and Gen 11 fabs in operation and a Gen 11 fab under construction. ChinaStar had set a goal of producing 2m 65” units this year, much of which would come from the company’s Gen 11 fab in Shenzhen, which has been ramping production since April. With a raw capacity of 90,000 sheets/month, the full year capacity of 65” panels would top out at 1.78m units with yielded output of ~1.26m 65” units.
