TCL Finally Buries the Blackberry
February 09, 2020

In 2003, the BlackBerry phone was a demonstration of “coolness” .  There was the keyboard and icons and the ability to get on the internet while going to work!  But it all unraveled when the iPhone was released (6/2007) and capacitive multi-touch changed the input process.  In 2016 the company ceased production and most recently licensed the brand name to TCL, but the last Blackberry was produced in 2018.  TCL will continue to support the brand on a technical basis until August 31, at which point they will no longer be associated with Blackberry, when the only outlet will be eBay.
