June 29, 2020

Sharp announced the AQUOS R5G for the Japanese market. It features a 6.5-inch IGZO TFT LCD panel, a 5G network, a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G Chipset and 12GB of RAM and 256GB of memory. The main camera features quad 12/48/12/ToF sensors and the selfie camera has a 16MP sensor. The battery is rated at 3730mAh and the phone is water resistant. While Sharp has an OLED pilot line and has released smartphones with OLED displays, the company trails Samsung in terms of OLED performance and is sticking with LCDs for the time being.
