September Panel Prices Continue Upward Trend
September panel prices are expected to continue rising, albeit at a slightly slower pace for TV panels and slightly faster pace for notebooks and mobile devices. Monitor panel pricing will be flat m/m, while notebook panel prices should increase ~1.0%, mobile panel prices should increase ~2.5%, and TV panel prices should increase ~4.2%., with smaller TV panels increasing the most. According to Sigmaintell Consulting, quotes for 32-inch TV panels will go up US$3 in September; those for 39.5- to 43-inch models will edge up US$5; 50- and 55-inch ones will move up US$6-7; and those for 65- and 75-inch panels will rise US$5. Mobile device demand increased as production of holiday smartphone devices began in earnest and large notebooks particularly in Japan, continue maintain high demand due to stay-at-home conditions, although monitors demand looks to have leveled off.
