Samsung/Sharp Formalize Supply TV Panel Agreement
May 17, 2020

Newly surfaced information suggests that Samsung and Sharp agreed to the general terms of a new supply agreement. Sharp is expected to begin providing Samsung with large LCD panels for the first time in four years. But the partnership will be significantly less impactful than originally speculated. Samsung will purchase around a million Sharp-made LCD TV panels this year, a fraction of the company’s 2019 LCD 42 million TV panels. Sharp will reportedly use Sakai Display Products Corp. to move the Samsung-bound LCD panels. SDP’s 2019 losses are said to be the main reason why this particular Sharp asset was chosen to facilitate its new dealings with Samsung.
