Samsung Reorganizes Strategy Responsibility
November 13, 2017 Samsung Electronics is assembling a business support task force (TF) team to coordinate investments between and the Samsung Group’s electronic industry affiliates and discovering and developing future growth engines. Jung Hyun-ho, a former chief of personnel management of the Office of Future Strategy, who is called the right arm of vice chairman Lee Jae-yong, will head the team up. The TF team is expected to take over some of the tasks from the Chairmen’s Office of Future Strategy. Samsung Electronics announced the "2018 regular top management shake-up" involving 14 people. The 14 included one new chairman, two new vice chairmen and seven new presidents. Samsung Electronics promoted Kwon Oh-hyun, a vice chairman who announced his intention to resign from his post last month to chairperson and appointed him as head of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. President Yoon Bu-keun was assigned work for external communications after being promoted vice chairman in charge of external affairs. President Shin Jong-lyun was appointed as vice chairman of human resources development who will support human resources development. In the DS Division, four were promoted to presidents. The four were Jin Kyo-young, head of the memory business, Kang In-yeop, head of the system LSI business, Jung Eun-seung, head of the foundry business and vice president Hwang Deuk-kyu. In the Consumer Electronics (CE) Division, Han Jong-hee, the head of the development team of the visual display business was appointed as president. Roh Hee-chan, the head of management support at Samsung Display became the CFO and Tim Baxter in charge of North America rose in ranks to assume presidency for the first time as a foreigner. "These personnel appointments and promotions were based performance resulting in great achievements”, a Samsung Electronics official said. |
