Samsung Executes Third of TV Price Reductions as Sales Volume Falls
An odd thing happened to Samsung Visual’s marketing strategy for their 2021 TVs; The TVs were overpriced, and Samsung issued up to three price reductions, since the products were introduced only a few weeks ago, during a period of increasing panel ASPs. The discounts vary across the entire line but of the 32 models in the 2021 offering shown, 18 have had one price reduction, 10 have had two price reductions, and one model has been reduced three times. In this last set of price reductions Samsung even lowered the price on low to mid-priced 4K QD TVs, albeit small reductions between 3.7% and 6.7%, but some of the more feature-rich sets have had total reductions as high as 24.0%.
What to do when Marketing can’t stimulate sales with price reductions?

On Thursday, after the latest set of price reductions, Samsung Newsroom issued a promotional interview where Neo QLED 8K Engineers Discuss Packing the TVs’ Ultra-Slim Frames with Powerful Sound Technologies
The gist of the article is to explain how “Samsung Electronics exquisitely refined its Neo QLED 8K lineup’s sound system to allow users to take full advantage of their large TV’s audio quality. The flagship displays were designed to analyze both the size of the space where they sit and how they’ve been installed in order to calibrate sound to its optimal settings. The TVs use that information to pump out realistic, object-tracking sound through their eight total speakers. When applied to our ‘family movie night’ scenario above, the TV’s speakers would compensate for when the family’s thick blanket absorbed the tones of mid-to-high registers, and evenly distribute three-dimensional sound from the corners of the room to the center when the family sat closer to the screen.”
