Samsung and LGE battle over the Large Gaming Monitor Market

LGE and SEC demonstrated state of art gaming monitors/TVs in ~40-inch segment at the 2020 CES, and both will release new gaming monitors/TVs in July. LGE is promoting its CX AI ThinQ Series, a 48.2-inch OLED panel gaming monitor, with a panel built in Guangzhou using MMG. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz, an alpha9 Gen 3AI Processor for 4K resolution and is compatible with major operating systems from Alexa, Google and Apple, and supports G-SYNC and Radeon FreeSync, which synchronize refresh rates between external graphic card and TV screen refresh rate

Samsung’s Odyssey G9 will be released on 07/13/2020 in the U.S. market. This 49-inch curved LCD monitor features a super wide 32:9 aspect ratio, QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution, curvature at 1000R with a 240Hz refresh rate, and support for FreeSync 2 and G-Sync. German TUV certified that the Odyssey G9 meets German standards and requirement of German Equipment and Product Safety Act. LGE’s CW is priced at $1599.99 while SEC’s Odyssey G9 is $1699.99.

From the images above the Samsung curved configuration seems much more suitable to immersive gaming.
