Royole Dedicates Gen 6 Flexible OLED Fab
July 23, 2018 Royole Corporation opened a 6th gen flexible OLED fab in Shenzhen, spanning 1.1 million sq. ft., with a capacity of 15,000 substrate/month producing 50 million flexible display units a year. Royole expects that its increased production will enable a swathe of next-generation electronics. The manufacturing facility cost $1.7 billion, which is substantially lower than typical Gen 6 fab costs of ~US$4 b. Royole expects flexible AMOLED to dominate the next-generation of displays. The company has already created the world's first foldable 3D mobile theatre (2015), the world's first curved car dashboard based on flexible electronics (2016), and the first smart writing pad, RoWrite, based on flexible sensors (2017).
