PlayNitride Funding 2nd MicroLED Production Line
PlayNitride, expects to increase paid-in capital of US$50 million by the end of September 2020, to fund a second micro LED production line, according to the company. It also plans to recruit 100-200 more engineers and assembly line workers in second-half 2020. PlayNitride started volume production at its first micro LED production line in 2019 for wearables that are being validated with shipments likely to begin in 2021. At SID Display Week, PlayNitride is showed transparent, bezel-free, curved-surface and flexible micro LED displays and mosaics of several 5.04-inch micro LED displays. The company introduced PixeLED Matrixan technology by integrating 16 RGB micro LED sets on a PCB substrate, which is equivalent to a display unit of 48 micro LED chips with pitches of 0.3-0.4mm, smaller than minimum pitches of 0.5-0.6mm for fine-pitch mini LED displays. PlayNitride said PixeLED Matrix will be validated in second-half 2020 for use in TV walls and automotive exterior lighting.
