OPPO Announces Apple Watch Look Alike
March 15, 2020
OPPO's very first smartwatch is clearly inspired by Apple without the crown on the side. It includes OPPO's own Dual-Chip Endurance System and Watch VOOC Flash Charging technology. It also comes with built-in cellular connectivity, and a suite of health and fitness features. This watch is made out of metal, and there are two buttons on its right side. On top of the watch, is a curved 3D Flexible Hyperboloid OLED Screen. The watch comes in 41mm and 42mm versions. The Apple Watch has 40mm and 44mm versions. Resolution is higher at 402 x 473 pixels, against the 368 x 448 pixels of the 44mm Apple Watch. It’s a 1.91in display where the Apple Watch screen is 1.78in. Plus, though not quite a waterfall display, the screen curves around the edges nicely, if the initial images and video are anything to go by. Displays on both of those watches are of an AMOLED variety, and it covers 100-percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. A heart rate sensor is included on the bottom of the watch, while it also offers electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality. It uses the Snapdragon Wear 2500; the Apollo 3 co-processor and it includes 5ATM rating for water resistance. Software is OPPO's custom software, which is based on Android, but it's OPPO's very own iteration for wearables. It support cellular connectivity, but comes with an eSIM, to take advantage of that if the carrier supports it.
The VOOC Flash Charging can charge this watch up from 0 to 46-percent in only 15 minutes. A full charge takes 75 minutes. OPPO also claims that the watch is quite gentle with battery consumption. The company claims 40 hours of (normal) use on a single charge. The battery saving option can extend its battery life up to 21 days.
The watch comes with 5 exercise sensors, and can monitor "a range of exercise scenarios". This watch will go on sale in China on March 24, while OPPO said it will "be available globally" as well. Its pricing in China starts at CNY1,499 ($215)
