OnePlus Wants a Piece of the Mid-Range Market
The OnePlus Nord is the brand’s highly anticipated return to “cheaper” smartphones, which 7 months after the device was first rumored as the OnePlus 8 Lite, the device is finally starting to take shape. Initially rumored to have a MediaTek processor, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has confirmed the phone will have a Snapdragon 765G processor an upper-mid-range processor with extra graphics power for gaming, with built-in support for both mmWave and sub-6Ghz 5G and the same processor rumored to be in the Pixel 5.

- The name Nord comes from “True North,” which is supposed to be some kind of reference to an inner compass.
- The phone’s price hasn’t been specified, but we do know it will cost “less than $500”, which is $200 less than the cheapest OnePlus 8.
- The phone was briefly available for pre-order in limited quantities for a €20 or £20 deposit.
