Musing on OLED Lighting
OLED Lighting Now Comes with Sound March 19, 2018 LG Display unveiled a new lineup of lighting products and technology equipped with Crystal Sound OLED (CSO) panels at 'Light + Building' to step up its push for innovation in lighting. The CSO lighting, which made its debut early this week in Frankfurt, refers to a lighting product equipped with panels that act as audio equipment and are part of a speaker. As the world's first sound OLED on display, CSO allows OLED panels to function as sound emitters. The company's CSO technology will likely gain international attention in the premium lighting market as the sound can be emitted directly from the lighting, thus delivering a theater-like experience to consumers. "The CSO lighting does not require installing a separate loudspeaker. Therefore, if you install it in a museum or an experience zone, you can hear the birds singing or water flowing as if you are in the woods," said an LG Display official. He added, "It is a product incorporated with our innovative technology that can be used as a substitute for fire-alarm systems or speakers in coffee shops." Meanwhile, LG Display showcased blinds and wallpapers that incorporate OLED lighting technology. Along with Red Dot Award-winning OLED lighting and flexible yet transparent shelves, the company displayed interior designs at the exhibition site. The company also unveiled OLED lighting panels that are applied to tail lights for cars. |
