OLED Capacity Growth to Reach 11% of TVs and 64% of Mid-Range and Premium Smartphones by 2025
DSCC recalculated capacity growth in the display industry, which is getting easier as investments in displays, especially for LCDs continues to decline. TV capacity was 240m m2 in 2019 and is expected to grow to 286m m2 by 2025.The OLED share, which was 3% in 2019 will grow to 11% by 2025, as LGD adds a Gen 10 fab and Samsung, CSoT and BOE enter the market. In the upper end smartphone plan market where LTPS/Oxide LCDs compete with OLEDS, capacity is forecast to grow from 26m m2 in 2019 to 43m m2 in 2025. The OLED share is forecasted to rise from 50% in 2019 to 64% in 2025.
