No Growth Expected in Total PCs and Phones in 2020
January 27, 2020
Gartner, which forecasts PCs and phones, reported no growth in 2020, as a 4% growth in computing devices was offset by a slight drop in phones. Since Gartner forecasted some growth in smartphones, the drop represents and continued fall in feature phones, likely a switch from feature to smart phones. There is nothing new in the forecast as the two markets are essentially saturated and no major technological infusions are anticipated. Gartner continues to see the overall phone marketing dropping at a CAGR of -1%, while ultramobiles prop up the PC market.
