LPKF Working on 30um Glass for UTG Applications
LIDE (Laser Induced Deep Etching) technology developed by LPKF, in Germany expects to produce glass at 30um to 900um without micro-cracking, in a two-step process of micro-regional transformation and chemical treatment using laser. LPKF explains that it is possible to provide flexibility by finely processing the folds of the cover window glass with a laser, to create an invisible by using a polymer that can match the reflectance to the fine pattern. LPKF demonstrated its LIDE technology on YouTube channel. LPKF markets as the Vitrion brand. DSCC reported that currently 3CONY, JNTC, Phoenix, QRS, Joongwoo M-Tech, UTI, Chemtronics and Abrisa, Asahi, Corning and NEG are working on UTG processing technology. LPKF signed a distribution agreement with NEG regarding its LIDE processing technology.
