LG Innotek Develops the Ferrite Material
Ferrite cores are used to filter or remove change voltages and extraneous signals caused by current surges in TV power modules, vehicle power and chargers (On Board Charge, OBC).
As home appliances and electric vehicles are smaller and more functional, ferrite cores are used for ultra-slim and high-efficiency products. LG Innotek’s ferrite material 40% less power loss due to heat, compared to general ferrite, by maintaining low-loss characteristics at temperatures between -40℃ to 140℃, improving the quality of the following products.

- Ultra-slim TV, lightweight vehicle, and energy efficiency improvement
- LG Innotek's “high-efficiency ferrite” is used increase fuel efficiency of electric and hydrogen vehicles and lower operating temperatures in ultra-slim TVs
- LG Innotek claims that using the ferrite can reduce the thickness of the TV 60% by reducing the TV power module for TV toa low of 9.9mm. A 65-inch ultra-slim OLED TV equipped with a general power module is about 46.9mm and 26.9mm with the ferrite, because this material has less power loss, reducing parts count by 1/3, and the thickness of the parts by 40%.
- 'High-efficiency ferrite' can increase the energy efficiency of TV power modules by up to 5%, which has a comparable reduction in heat generation and heat damage is minimized extending the component life.
- When ferrite is used in vehicle DC-DC converter, the volume and weight of the converter is reduced by 10%, and the energy efficiency of the converter is increased by up to 1.2% points.
- Since high-efficiency ferrite generates less heat, the temperature of parts can be reduced by up to 20℃.
- Provide differentiated customer value through internalization of core materials”
- LG Innotek's strategy is to strengthen its differentiated competitiveness by expanding the application of “high-efficiency ferrite,” a core material for its products.
- LG Innotek is actively promoting the product to global electronic companies and automakers to support mass production of materials in the first half of next year. In addition, in order to solidify its position as the No. 1 technology in the field of “high efficiency ferrite,” it is developing advanced materials with improved performance based on 120 related patents.
