LG Gets GM Innovator Of The Year Award for Cadillac Escalade Cockpit

LG Electronics and LG Display were named GM Innovator of the Year at General Motors’ 28th Annual Supplier of the Year Virtual Award event. LGD supplied 38-inch P-OLED cockpit displays for the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. Both LGE and LGD were recognized as for delivering advanced display for automotive display application. In February 2020, LGD was certified for Eye Comfort Display by TUV Rheinland International for its P-OLED quality. LGD started to produce the P-OLED automotive displays at Kumi line. In 2019, Omdia reported that LGD as a #1 automotive display producer, captivating 20.1% market followed by JDI 14.1%, AUO 14.0%, Tianma 11.0% and Innolux 9.5%. In terms of revenues, LGD reached close to $152M in automotive display segment and hopes to reach $200M in 2021 in the same segment. Currently the automotive segment is consisted of both LCD and P-OLED; however, the growth in P-OLED will be leading the segment. Currently, the automotive display market size in unit base is estimated to 110K units in 2020 and up to 4.6M by 2026, growing >80% annually.
