Lextar Ships MicroLED Devices In Small Volumes

Vertically-integrated LED maker Lextar Electronics has begun small-volume shipments for microLEDs to clients for 10-inch automotive dashboard displays, VR/AR displays, smartwatches and aeronautic displays, according to company chairman and CEO David Su. Lextar has developed 30-50um LEDs for direct packaged into large-size indoor displays, which are better in picture quality than RGB fine-pitch mini LED displays, Su said. MicroLED technology is likely to be commercialized in 1-2 years, Su noted.
