Kaneka Expands OLED Lighting for Visual Inspection at Production Sites

Kaneka is marketing OLED  visual inspection for manufacturing sites in Japan. Kaneka claims that the OLED lighting can detect defects such as scratches on the surface of parts with its soft light, which is close to sunlight, but with less burden the eyes. By 2022 they will expand marketing to China and Vietnam. Kaneka hopes to ship 10,000 inspection light sources in 2022. Kaneka claims the bright area OLED lights are an improvement over the highly directional and strong light of LED lighting that puts a heavy burden on the eyes of workers.

There were many examples cases with defects were reduced by 50% at one-tenth the brightness of LED lighting, with a reduction of worker’ headaches and stiff shoulders of at factories when converting from LEDs to OLEDs.  Kaneka Q220 output was up 10x Y/Y.  The  3.54 x 3.54-inch panel with 0.043-inch thin OLED lighting panel are produced by Kaneka subsidiary OLED Aomori. The panels are also used in museums, hotels, and restrooms.
