In 2020, China Deploys 250,000 5G Base Stations

China issued its first 5G licenses on June 5, 2019. While much of the data surrounding China’s 5G network infrastructure is unconfirmed, here are some of the stats…

• 10,000+ 5G base stations built weekly in 2020 250,000 5G base stations deployed in China
• 600,000+ 5G base stations built by the end of this year is the goal, covering each city at prefecture level or above.
• Over 36m 5G subscribers by late April with 7m new in April alone.  The goal is for 200m by the end of the year.

Carrier/Provider stats:

• China Telecom– 2019 5G payment plan (minimum) - $18.06 – 2020 
• China Mobile (– Ranges from $12.42 to $84.39 – Reduced between 26.5% to 31.25% from 2019 fees
  •  57 5G smartphone models out of 106 (53.77%
  •  59.85m 5G units shipped domestically by late May – 180m expected by year-end
  • Lowest priced 5G model ~$211
