Idemitsu Kosan to Open OLED Material Plant in Chengdu

​Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. announced it will build a manufacturing facility for OLED materials in Chengdu, Chinthat to accommodate the growing demand for OLED materials in China, The new fab will have a 12-ton capacity. Korean online news sources indicated that LG Chem is also reviewing its expansion in China for OLED material R&D center as well.  The Company’s OLED materials factory in Omaezaki, Shizuoka started operating in 2007 with a 10-ton capacity, and the plant in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, Korea started operating in 2012 with a 6-ton capacity. With the aim of ensuring a stable supply of OLED materials to Chinese customers, the Company recently decided to construct a third manufacturing plant for OLED materials after the ones in Japan and Korea. Commercial production at the new plant is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
