Huawei’s Mate X2 Due in September
July 05, 2020
Huawei will be launching the Mate X2 smartphone later this year with a 120Hz display.
The device was mentioned in the list of smartphones launching in 2020 with a 120Hz display.
Huawei introduced high refresh rate displays with the Mate 30 series. Until now, the high refresh rate on Huawei smartphones has been limited to 90Hz. For 2020, the Mate X2 could be the only Huawei smartphone with a 120Hz display. Huawei is expected to launch the Mate 40 series in October this year. The company might also unveil the Mate X2 foldable smartphone at the same event.
The Mate X and Mate Xs smartphones feature a large 8-inch OLED display that folds into 6.6-inch main and 6.38-inch secondary displays when folded. The Galaxy Fold 2 launching in September will also feature UTG and a 120Hz foldable screen. Huawei's outward folding design makes the display a bit more fragile during daily use. Even the Mate X2 could come with the same design as its earlier launched foldable smartphones. The leaks also suggest the upcoming foldable smartphone from the company might use ultra-thin glass (UTG). While the device will be running on the latest Android version, it will continue to miss out on Google Mobile Services (GMS) support. According to the patent filed with EUIPO, the Mate X2 is also expected to come with stylus support. Currently, only the MediaPad tablets from Huawei come with a stylus.
