HP Retains #1 Position in PC Sales in 2020
Worldwide shipments of PCs were 203m up26% Y/Y. HP retained its leader shipment position in 50m up 6% Y/Y with a 25% share. Lenovo was close behind with 47m PCs, up 7% Y/Y and a 23% share. Dell, Apple, Asus and Acer were 3-6 respectively. Samsung shipped 4.0m units in 2020 and expect to be much higher as they plan to introduce a new OLED panel into their PC line. In 2021, PC shipments are expected to increase to 216m up 6% y/Y. All the growth in 2020 and 2021 is due largely to the work at home phenomena causing notebooks to be upn35% in 2020, while desktops were up 5%.
