Honor 30 Series Announced w/6.53 OLED Display
April 26, 2020
Honor finally unveiled the Honor 30 series. Front-lined by the vanilla Honor 30 and the Honor 30 Pro. The most noteworthy aspect of the Honor 30 is the inclusion of the new Kirin 985 5G chipset. The SoC is built around on the 7nm node and boasts a central Cortex-A76 core that is clocked at 2.58GHz, with three Cortex-A76 working at 2.40GHz and four Cortex A-55 at 1.84GHz. Another highlight of the Honor 30 is its 6.53-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Around the back, the phone is also noted for a sophisticated quadruple-camera setup, headlined by a large 40MP wide camera and an 8MP periscope lens. Its auxiliary shooters include an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensors. The phone also houses an equally sizeable 32MP front-facing sensor in its display cutout. Other key features of the Honor 30 include an in-display fingerprint reader, support for 40W fast charging, and 5W reverse charging.
The Honor 30 series sets itself apart from its vanilla sibling with its pill-shaped cutout, which houses two front-facing cameras. The dual-camera setup is configured with 32MP wide and 8MP ultrawide sensors. Powering the device is HUAWEI’s HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G, which makes it slightly more efficient than its sibling. The phone is either paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM tiers, plus 128GB or 256GB of internal storage options. The Honor 30 Pro also comes with a slightly dissimilar rear camera setup over the regular Honor 30. The rest of their camera configurations are mostly the same except for the former’s 16MP ultrawide module, which is said to be geared for macro photography. The base price for the Honor 30 is CNY 2,999, while its 8GB/128GB variant is priced at CNY 3,199. Its top-of-the-line 8GB/256GB trim retails for CNY 3,499. The 8GB/128GB edition of the Honor 30 Pro carries a price tag of CNY 3,999, while the 8GB/256GB version should set buyers back at CNY 4,399. Both phones’ official sales were released on April 21.
