HB Technology Expands to Repair Equipment

HB Technology, a leading AOI equipment provider for SDC, has been developing all-in-one equipment with AOI and laser repairing functionality since 2017. SDC’s investment in QD-OLED TV displays resulted in HB Technology being awarded a $52M PO issued for AOI and laser repair equipment on 12/31/19. The equipment is scheduled for delivery on 08/31/20.

HB Technology, a leading AOI equipment provider for SDC, has been developing all-in-one equipment with AOI and laser repairing functionality since 2017. SDC’s investment in QD-OLED TV displays resulted in HB Technology being awarded a $52M PO issued for AOI and laser repair equipment on 12/31/19. The equipment is scheduled for delivery on 08/31/20.
HB Technology has been a supplier of AOI equipment to SDC, since 2009, but not for repair equipment. The Korean media indicated that HB Technology finally succeed in developing a laser repair capability equivalent to Charm Engineering.
HB Technology’s LCD/OLED AOI revenue peaked in 2017; however, in 2020 performance is expected to recover from 2018 and 2019 slump. The Q120 backlog was $150M. HB’s Q120 repair and inspection equipment revenue forsecondary (rechargeable) batteries was down due to FPD fab shutdowns; however, Chinese FPD investment is continuing as they issue POs to equipment producers. HB Technology received at least 20 AOI and edge repair equipment awards by Chinese producers and these awards result in POs in this year.
