Early June Pricing Shows Little Change in Direction
June 07, 2020
Covid-19 continues to create havoc in the CE market and whatever pricing stability exists is due to a balance of reduced demand and slow start of supply. Notebook panel prices in June are expected to rise between 0.2% and 0.6% while monitor panels are expected to remain flat. Relatively little change in LCD TV panel pricing this month, with a bit more pressure on smaller panels. It is still a bit early to begin building inventory for the holiday build period and buyers will stay cautious until some clearer signs for a pickup in TV demand to return. The industry has been working down large panel inventory by lowering utilization but with relatively low demand buyers are not rushing to fill orders, especially as many brands have lowered yearly TV shipment estimates tacitly.
