DSCC Counts More Large Area Displays Than Omdia; by 10.8% in 2019 and 7.2% in 2020

DSCC and Omedia, the leading market researchers in the display’ industry had differing views of the size of the market. DSCC has the panel shipments higher by 7.2% and 10.8% in 2020 and 2019, respectively. DSCC see 2020 down 3.2% while Omdia had shipments rising by 0.7% The companies counted TVs, Notebooks, Tablets and Monitor panels which are shown in the tables below. Omedia added an Others category and DSCC had both an Automotive and Others category, but they were very different, so they weren’t included in the comparisons.

The companies count panels, which are normally higher by 10% to 15% than sets, as shown in the next table. The trend is set shipments is more aligned with DSCC than Omdia.
