CSoT to Build Gen 8.6 Fab with 240,000 substrate/mo. Capacity

ChinaStar is planning to build a Gen 8.6 class fab in China, with this $4.6b LCD project to be situated in Guangzhou.  The fab will have a  substrate size of 2250 x 2600, which has higher efficiency than traditional Gen 8.5 fabs when producing smaller TV panels and monitors.  As ChinaStar has two Gen 11 fabs, it makes sense for them to focus this fab’s characteristics on intermediate sized products, which have been gaining volume during the COVID-19 pandemic. ChinaStar is considering enough construction capacity to accommodate up to 240,000 sheets/month.
