Correction on RGBW OLED Panel Cost Breakdown
July 05, 2020
Last week, when reporting on the cost of using IJP to make OLED panels, we commented on a potential 10% savings vs. RGBW as used by LGD, claiming that all of the savings would be due to lowering the cost of the organic material, which was at 10% and therefore impossible. In our article on OLED panel costs, later in this Musing, DSCC puts the organic material share at ~20% of the costs, improving the material utilization from ~50% to 90% and reducing the number of layers could result in a 10% savings.
