Citicorp – “Consumers Don’t Understand Difference Between OLEDs and LCDs”

Atif Malik presented at the Investor’s Conference and showed the results of a survey conducted to determine the knowledge of consumers regarding their understanding of the differences in how display technology performs. The survey showed that less than 20% of consumers were able to select between LCDs and OLEDs and although OLED were preferred, the difference was relatively low. It is clear that the OLED industry need to do a better job explaining the differences to consumer. The sur]vey did not differentiate among demographic, but such a study need to done.

When asked what factors impact the decision to purchase a smartphone, the display resolution and technology came out 6thin 7 categories, the 7thbeing other. In TVs, display resolution and technology was 5thout of 7 categories.
