Chinese OLED Panel Makers Continue to Add Capacity

In December three Chinese panel producers had new or active bids out for equipment.  BOE is large enough so that it rarely runs out of active bids for OLED related equipment, but in December, they placed bids for both their Gen 6 Mianyang fab and their Gen 6 Chongqing OLED fab, which are under construction.  BOE is trying to increase phase 2 capacity to a full 24,000 sheets/month, which it has already done for the phase 1 line.  The BOE Chongqing fab is not scheduled to be in production until mid-2021 so they should continue to order equipment for that fab through much of 2021.

Visionox has put out bids for OLED equipment this month, and while they are building a new OLED fab in Hefei, the equipment appears to be for their existing smaller fab in Hebei.  Tianma is the most active with a number of bids out this month, for their Gen 6 OLED fab in Xiamen, which could be ready in early 2021.

Samsung Display remains the leader in OLED small/medium capacity, China’s OLED panel makers are expanding and eventually could impact small/medium panel OLED panel prices, when yields reach full production levels.
