China’s July Mobile Phone Shipments Up 11.8% M/M and 28.6% Y/Y
July smartphone shipments were the first Y/Y increase seen since March. July ‘20 was a weak month last year, following a strong rebound in Q220 after the onset of COVID-19. On a YTD basis, total smartphone shipments in China were 202.82m units, up 15.6% Y/Y. China’s mobile phone shipments for April through July were down 17.11%.
The 5-year average was 47.8% in the 1st half and 52.2% in the 2nd half. 2020 was a bit different, with 49.7% in the 1st half and 50.3% in the 2nd, this year should be closer to the 5 year average indicating 190.2m units for the 2nd half of this year for a total of 364.34m for the full year, up 18.3% Y/Y.
