Bose Finds AR is Too Tough and Too Expensive
June 21, 2020
US audio firm Bose has closed its entire augmented reality division, and the apps released for its Frames sunglasses and AR-enabled headphones will soon stop working. It is the latest company to find it hard to garner consumer interest in AR technology. It was always a surprise to see a company like Bose, which is known for making amazing sounding headphones, to suddenly release a pair of augmented reality glasses. The glasses themselves were more of a gimmick than would have expected to find in the "Sky Mall" or "Innovations" catalogue in the 90s, rather than be sold by Bose in 2019.
