BOE Progressing as an Apple OLED Supplier, Providing Samples for the iPhone 14
BOE is well behind Samsung and LGD in OLED display technology with no LTPO and less efficient material, but it has gained entrance into Apple’s iPhone supply chain. The company supplied OLED panels for refurbished iPhone 12 models and recent reports indicate that qualification panels were provided for the iPhone 13 in the fourth quarter of 2020 for LTPS displays. BOE set up Fab B11 in Menyang exclusively for Apple and launched efforts to expand its OLED panel supply to the U.S. client. Fab B11 is currently manufacturing samples of iPhone 13 panels. However, in order to gain orders starting for the iPhone 14, they will likely have to supply LTPO panels.
