BOE and San’an Collaborating of Micro LED Display Manufacturing

LED chip producer San’an Optoelectronics and panel manufacturer BOE both reported that they are putting focus on Mini LED and Micro LED production. Other China-based industry players also revealed their progress in the past year. 

• Refond completed a Mini LED autonomous production line and will expand its capacity if demands grow. The company supplied its Mini LED products to several display producers in China. 
• Kanka’s Mini LED backlit TVs showcased at 2019 AWE China and TCL’s Mini LED backlit TVs both adopted Refond’s LED display module. The Chinese company also showcased Micro LED display at Touch Taiwan based on its proprietary RGB LED chip development. Its Micro LED products achieved a pixel pitch of 0.49mm and is moving towards 0.39mm
• Nationstar provided its products for 4K/8K Mini LED display and its Mini LED V2.0 is under verification and scheduled for volume production in 1H20.
  The company’s LEDs were used in TCL’s 132-inch 4K Mini TV showcased in IFA 2019. The company targets fine pitch displays and has entered mass production phase with its P0.9 Mini LED series product. It launched P0.7 Mini LED product in June and is working on products with finer pitch size.
• Hongli focuses majorly on Mini LED and has released more than 20 different Mini LED products for applications covering VR devices, tablets, gaming monitors, TVs, medical device displays and automotive displays. 
• San’an reported begin 6-inch Micro LED wafer production following its investment in Micro LED and Mini LED announced in 2Q19. Robust demand for OLED displays and mini LED-backlit applications will buoy IC materials distributor
