Acuity Shows its Hybrid Olessence at the OLED Lighting Stakeholders Meeting in Corning, NY October 23, 2016
The DOE SSL program held its 3rd annual OLED Lighting Stakeholders meeting and the attendance was the highest ever. Corning was the host and we just caught the tail end of their Indian summer. Acuity showed its Olessence (sounds like Obsolescence) Indirect Suspended Linear Luminaire that combines LEDs and OLEDs.

The hybrid luminaire offers: · High-performance uplight with batwing distribution · Flicker-free uplight dimming to .1% by remote eldoLED® driver · Dual circuit switching for independent dimming of indirect and direct output (opt) · nLight® enabled for system networking (opt) · Integrated sensor for daylight dimming or occupancy detection (opt) · Three lumen packages with efficacy up to 100 lm/W · 3000K, 3500K, 4000K with 90+ CRI options · 4’, 6’ and 8’ independent or continuous sections
Olessence is a new class of lighting using LEDs for the demanding uplighting point source and OLEDs for the diffused eye friendly direct down light providing brightness without glare.

The presentations were not available prior to our publishing schedule, but we can account for recent reports on OLED performance. Naomi J. Miller, Designer/Senior Scientist, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and J. Lynn Davis, RTI Fellow; Innovation, Technology and Development, RTI International gave overviews of the work they have done evaluating actual OLED Lighting products in the market. They looked at 4 luminaires Table 1 Brand and Model Numbers for OLED Caliper

The Aerelight device used panels from OLEDWorks and the Acuity Brand devices used panels from LG Display. The details of the analysis are available at the DOE SSL website. The next table summarizes the results. Table 2 OLED Luminaire Tested Performance
