Asahi Glass and TCL Group to Build a G11 Glass Fab
Asahi Glass and TCL Huaxing invested, over 4.8 billion yuan in an 11th generation glass substrate production base project in Shenzhen. According to People’s Daily, on December 8, 2020 Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference was held, where 40 major projects were signed and displayed, including board production base project, 11th generation glass substrate production base project, BOE Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area headquarters project, etc. Among them, Japan's AGC Co., Ltd. (Asahi Glass) plans to jointly invest $4.5M with TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology ("TCL China Star") to build the G11 glass substrate production project. The project will build two G11 glass substrate rear-stage grinding and processing production lines, with a maximum production capacity of 360,000 substrates a month, and an estimated annual maximum output of 4.32 million pieces after reaching full-scale of production.
