Apple’s XR Cutbacks Add to JDI’s Financial Woes
December 17, 2018 We recently reported on the iPhonesupply chain participants that either lowered 4Q expectations or reduced staff as a result of potential order cutbacks for the iPhone XR. As JDI is the major supplier of displays for the XR it has been reported that JDI has lowered fab utilization will shut down its small/medium fabs for five days before and after the New Year holiday. JDI does not comment on specific customer products but did say that production levels for smartphones would be the same in December as they were in November and there were no plans for reductions this year. They also stated that they would be shutting down production during the ‘year-end and New Year holidays’ as they do each year. The company also equivocated by saying they would respond carefully after ascertaining future demand trends. |
