Apple Glasses Update
May 17, 2020
Ming-Chi Kuo expects an Apple Glasses launch "in 2022 at the earliest," ahead of the 2023 or beyond launch previously predicted by Bloomberg. Apple has been teasing such a device by embedding AR code in recent releases of iOS. Apple glasses are expected to look very much like a set of prescription glasses and will be wireless tethered to an iPhone, similar to the Apple Watch. The display has been a mystery, but there have been reports it is likely to be a MicroLED microdisplay. In other Apple news, it appears the company acquired AR/VR event streaming company NextVR, as media reports suggested last month. NextVR's landing page now announces a "new direction" without its existing service. The prior reports suggested a $100m price tag for NextVR, which provides live event viewing for all the major VR headset brands.
