Always-on Feature Coming to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says the 2021 iPhone could have an always-on display, better battery life, a 120Hz refresh rate, a smaller screen notch, an A15 chip and video recording upgrades. The use of LTPO in the iPhone Pro and Pro Max allows the OS to slow down refresh rates, when only the time is displayed from the standard 60 or 120Hz to as low as 1 Hz (once per second), which would use very little power. The Apple Watch series 5 and above use this feature. It probably won’t be supported on the mini and standard models.

Per one report, clock and battery charge will always be visible in the always on mode, and only part of the screen will light up, that too temporarily, to show a new notification. The iPhone 13 will come with the A15 Bionic chip, a smaller notch, improved video recording capabilities, and longer battery life. In-display fingerprint tech did not make the cut.
