BOE Delays Next Phase of Gen 10.5 Build Out by At least 60-days
June 18, 2018

In a filing by one of BOE’sequipment suppliers that announced the push out of tool deliveries by 60 days, it was indicated that the change in delivery dates was due to delays in the setup of BOE’s production line equipment for their Gen 10.5 fab that officially went into production on December 20, 2017. The BOE fab will eventually have a capacity for 120,000 sheets/month, which will be added incrementally once the initial line has been thoroughly tested and tuned.  Typically, fab capacity is added in phases of equal size, say 30,000 sheets/month in phase 1 and another 30,000 sheets in phase 2 a year later, but in actuality line increments can be as small as 5,000 sheets per physical line.  The BOE Gen 10.5 fab in Hefei is said to be different in that the phase 1 is for 90,000 sheets/month and the phase 2 is for 30,000 sheets/month.

BOE appears to have slowed has slowed the addition of another 10k or 15k line for either market reasons (65” panel price declines are bigger and coming faster than expected).  However, there have been rumors that BOE’s yield are less than expected
