150M Panels Installed in Automotive Market in 2020
Installed panes dropped 12% Y/Y in the automotive market in 2020 but is expected to grow by 8% Y/Y in 2021 as the global economy recovers according to Sigmaintell. Average panel size in 2020 was 8.0” up from 7.5” in 2020. BY 2025, Sigmaintell forecast shipments of 192m and an average size of 8.5”.

Tianma led the category with a 14.9% share, followed by JDI, AUO, LGD and BOE.

Although the >10” category made up only 21% of total panels in cars it is becoming very significant as the luxury car makers are installing larger displays up to 40” to differentiate their products.
