The OLED Micro Display Brightness Wars

Last week, eMagin announced an OLED micro display that uses direct patterning to achieve 7,000 nits. This week, Kopin matched the brightness with its Lightning® 720p OLED display (1280 x 720 resolution) at 7000 nits nearly 100% sRGB) and high contrast (> 4,000: 1). This display uses a duo-stack OLED structure and Kopin’s ColorMaxTM technology for high color fidelity.  Previously, we described duo-stack, which has two layers each of red, green and blue emitters, with a single set of common layers where the electrons and holes pass through the duo-stack.
