Samsung Z Fold S Designed w/360º Degree Hinge and $1600 Price Due in 2021

Twitter user @folduniverse reported that the Samsung Z Fold S, a budget version of the Fold 2 will have a 360-degree hinge with “outfold” and “infold,” like the Surface Duo. It is rumored for release in 2021. Also, like the Duo, the screens must fold inward to store in a pocket. The phone will use UTG outside the device to give it a premium feel. The Surface Duo will also have a glass exterior for protection and premium feel. The differentiator is the Z Fold S foldable OLED screen, which eliminates the Duo’s frame between the screens. Galaxy Z Fold S $,1400 Duo. The Galaxy Z Fold S I expected to feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 875 chip, which is rumored to use the same 5nm manufacturing process as the iPhone 12's A14 Bionic.

The Surface Duo has a 360-degree hinge that lets the device fold into more forms than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 at the expense of having an unavoidable break in the middle. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a single, unbroken display but can only fold from about zero to 180-degrees because of the limitations of flexible OLED displays. The Galaxy Z Flip 2, will be able to fold inwards like a regular Galaxy Z Fold 2 as well as outwards like a Surface Duo or, the Huawei Mate Xs. Samsung has been expected to have a more affordable version of the Galaxy Fold or Galaxy Z Fold 2 but that has yet to materialize.  Despite having just, a single display and potentially a reduced number of cameras, the R&D and manufacturing that will be required to pull off such a 360-degree flexible screen might still offset those cost savings. Given how the single folding direction of the current Galaxy Z Fold 2 still has room for improvement.
