Samsung Electronics Market Cap -- Lowest in 23 Months

As of last Friday, Samsung Electronics’ capex stood at around 444 trillion won ($400b). At 96,800 won per share, Samsung Electronics had hit a 52 week high on January 11 this year, but the stock price massively fell to this year’s lowest of 74,100 won amid massive foreign sell-offs, which was caused by the concerns that the chipmakers’ earnings would decrease after the threat of lower prices for DRAMs. The mobile unit is also stressed having lost its #1 position to Xiaomi for July and is undergoing an uncommon review by senior management at the Group level. Samsung has also been losing market share in its TV business.
