Q420 PC Shipments Up 26% Y/Y, Led up Notebooks Up 28%
 
Global PC shipments (desktops, notebooks, and workstations) increased 26% Y/Y to 91.6M units, according to new IDC data. The pandemic-driven work and learn from home trends drove traditional PC sales up 13% for 2020 compared to the prior year, which is the highest annual growth rate since 2010.

​Taiwan-based notebook ODMs are expected to enjoy a particularly strong first quarter of 2021 as they continue to see strong demand from clients, with order momentum set to last through the second half of the year, according to industry sources. Notebook ODMs are considering hiking their quotes to reflect rising costs of components, transportation and other expenses, according to market sources.
